Bosch 4100-09 Intro

As soon as one sees Bosch, a sigh of relief comes to mind. It is definitely a reliable manufacturer, with years of experience and with a lot of high-quality products over time. However, with Bosch 4100-09 the company has attempted a difficult combination. Combining portable size with stability and great performance has certainly raised the bar.

But fortunately, Bosch seems to deliver exactly what promised without any major flaws or drawbacks. Of course, we have noticed a few glitches during the performance; however, in no way do these glitches prevent the overall quality of the table saw. On the contrary, the special features and attention to detail in the design have created a

So if you are looking for a table saw that is powerful enough to enable maximum performance at a reasonable size, this is definitely a great option.  Let’s have a closer look at the special features of this power tool, shall we?

Special Features

Like various worthy opponents, Bosch 4100-09 features a 15-amp motor for impressive power. Although there are lighter options for you to consider, the use of wheels is an added bonus in portability. It is pretty compact in size and functional, too. The tool is made of aluminum, with no load at 3,650 RPM and amazing maximum rip capacity.

120V voltage is great since it allows you to perform everything with relative ease. And there are several extras that we have loved about Bosch 4100-09. Just a side note, the dust collector might be proven less efficient than what anticipated. There may be some debris and other waste not collected by the specific mechanism. But overall, this is not a serious drawback.

In addition, there is onboard storage space, along with SquareLock Rip Fence. The miter gauge is not that solid and this might lead to excessive noise over time. The 40-tooth blade is another great asset when it comes to Bosch 4100-09 table saw. It makes things a lot easier when cutting even the most demanding materials.

Last but definitely not least, this is a fine piece of equipment security-wise. The Smart Guard System is a wonderful option, with the blade guard and the riving knife adding to the safety standards of this tool. And it works with an anti-kickback mechanism. A Gravity-Rise Stand is included, making the table saw easily adjustable to your own measures and criteria.

Pros:

  • Made of aluminum
  • On board storage space
  • Great Smart Guard System
  • Reliable manufacturer (Bosch)
  • Portable
  • Gravity – Rise Stand included

Cons:

  • Not solid miter gauge
  • Rather heavy
  • Dust collection not great

Things we liked about it:

A table saw from a well-reputable manufacturer such as Bosch is bound to come with lots of advantages. So it comes as no surprise that we have liked many things about this tool. If we had to point out a single characteristic, though, this would be the fact that it is so portable. Even though there are lighter options out there, the wheels and the Gravity-Rise Stand featured in the purchase makes the table saw easily adjustable and greatly compact.

Besides that, the truth is that there have been fears as to the overall quality of the tool’s performance. And those fears were not validated. The performance was greater than expected, which is always a good thing. This tool is not only limited to small or moderate projects. Instead, even professionals may use it properly and cover most of their needs in full.

To top it all off, there are some impressive safety features that we cannot ignore. Since safety is paramount when working and especially when this work involves cutting, these features are more than welcome. The Smart Guard System makes work a breeze and minimizes risks. A wonderful combination that we have enjoyed a great deal!

Things we didn’t like:

As you may have guessed, there are not many things that have not left us absolutely satisfied with Bosch 4100-09. One of the things that have disappointed us the most, in this case, is the dust collector. We would have expected it to work more appropriately. Instead, in several situations the collector could not live up to the task and debris covered the area.

The miter gauge is not as solid, either. This can be a problem and particularly after a while. Not only does that lack of sturdiness interfere with performance, but it may also lead to excessive noise. Imagine trying to work and not being able to do so because of the noise.

Obviously, portability cannot go hand in hand with heavy weight. So this means that we would have loved Bosch 4100-09 to be a little lighter. But having said that, it is true that there is no actual impact of this weight on the portability of this table saw. A few pounds on the lighter side may have meant some compromise on performance and high quality, after all. So this is not a settlement we would be willing to make.

Overall Impression:

Now that we have completed the pros and cons of Bosch 4100-09, it is time to focus a little more on the overall user experience. Bosch is an esteemed manufacturer and this means that attention has been drawn to detail. This shows when performing tasks of different difficulty levels, which is great.

With the wheels and the Gravity-Rise Stand, the table saw is tailor-made to your own height and requirements. You can use it literally anywhere you want and you can carry it around with you. There are no limits as to space and this is certainly a bonus when it comes to reliable and sturdy power tools.

Safety comes first and Bosch knows that. So it goes without even saying that the table saw is really easy and safe to use. There are added extras, such as the blade guard and riving knife with anti-kickback mechanism, offering a superb sense of security throughout the work performed. The integrated Smart Guard System works wonders and prevents accidents, as well as damage to the materials cut and processed.

If we had to summarize the essence of Bosch 4100-09, we would have to point out its overall value in a nutshell. It is a powerful tool, compact and portable enough to fit any space and enable transportation. At the same time, it is safe to use and delivers exactly as promised, with only slight room for improvement.

Bottom Line:

From everything that has been highlighted here in our Bosch 4100-09 review, it is evident that we are talking about a high-quality piece of equipment. Both newbies and professionals will appreciate its special features and safety extras, along with its compact size and easy to carry around from one place to the next.

There are several great features that have impressed us about Bosch 4100-09, leading to our recommendation. Among them, the 15-amp motor and the 40-tooth blade, the great maximum rip capacity and the 3,650 RPM no load speed. Furthermore, the table saw is made of aluminum and comes with on-board storage space, Smart Guard System and Gravity-Rise Stand. All these are unique assets, completing a solid and high-quality piece of equipment.

On the downside, the table saw could be a tiny bit lighter for portability sake. Then, the miter gauge could have been more solid and the overall performance could run without all that noise. Especially as time goes by, complaints about noise multiply. And another thing to note is the fact that the dust collector is not up to the task.

Besides all the downsides, which are not that bad anyway, Bosch 4100-09 is a great purchase for those in search of a compact yet powerful tool. If you are one of those people, then, by all means, go ahead. It will not let you down!
